Making An Impact Where We Live

Salaam Food Pantry is truly a pillar and inspiration within the community. As the Director of Social Services for the Geo Apartments in Fremont, I am thankful that Salaam Food Pantry is a food resource that these residents can depend on. The families and individuals that are struggling financially can live without the fear having to compromise on health and wellness. Additionally, the money they save on groceries is used toward other pressing matters such as childcare and medical expenses. Salaam Food Pantry has helped feed thousands of people and I see first-hand the transformative impact the organization has. Ultimately, I just hope that more companies and non-profits look to Salaam Food Pantry as a model for community service and social impact.

A New Chapter

Dear respected friends,

Through the past years of your continuous support, prayers, motivation, and with our energetic volunteers - Salaam Food Pantry took a leap in opening a multi-purpose small office in the heart of Irvington district to further support and extend services to our neighbors, newly arriving families in need of settling in and enabling our students to complete their service hours prior high school graduation.

We request for your prayers for this office to become a means of serving humanity.

It’s located at the corner of Bay and Trimboli Street in Fremont. 🙏

Niles Rotary Club at Salaam Food Pantry

Niles Rotary Club at Salaam Food Pantry - April 29th, 2023

Salaam Food Pantry, established in 2016 is a community based food pantry that is held every 4th Saturday of each month in Irvington district of Fremont. In April, the pantry distributed 300 grocery bags that consisted of non-perishable food items along with fresh produce and bread. Fresh warm meal boxes were packed and served with vegetable rice, baked chicken, chicken noodles, lentil soup, and fresh naan bread. The pantry was able to run smoothly thanks to the help of many youth volunteers who clocked in around 140 volunteer hours. It was a successful event that helped many families in need with help from youth, adults and volunteers from the Niles Rotary Club.

The Niles Rotary Club, a global network of leaders and problem solvers, who joined the pantry as volunteers to assist those in need. The club chartered in 1937 is the first Rotary Club to be organized in Northern California. Members believe in taking action on the world's most persistent issues and building meaningful friendships to serve local and worldwide communities. Special thanks to Aziz Akbari, Community Service Chair from The Niles Rotary Club for bringing his energetic volunteers to contribute their time and effort to the pantry and spent their time distributing food bags to the community. Their volunteer work was a testament to the Rotary motto and they left the pantry feeling fulfilled and accomplished.

Thank you to the members of the Niles Rotary Club for volunteering in serving our neighbors. Your dedication and commitment to our cause have made an impact on the lives of those in need and we are truly grateful for your support: Aziz Akbari, Irshad Rasheed, Bill Caine, Kathleen Caine, Chuck Canada, Xenia Hailu, Nisreen Akbari, Manaf Akbari, Fabio Salahudeen, Jessica Williams, and Reshna Inamdar.
