Winter Blanket Drive

On November 23rd, Peace Terrace Academy, a private Islamic school hosted a Winter Blanket Drive to bring warmth and comfort for the upcoming winter season. The drive was held at Peace Terrace Academy in Fremont from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. It proved to be a success, with the community donating over 300 brand-new blankets for adults and children.

In addition, Peace Terrace Academy students prepared and donated 100 hygiene kits, which they purchased, packed, and assembled themselves. These kits included toothbrushes, toothpaste, hand soaps, and other essential items. After meticulously packing and adding personalized notes students delivered the kits to the Salaam Food Pantry office.

“Alhamdulillah [Praise Be to God], the drive turned out to be a great success. We managed to fill an entire box truck with brand-new blankets–a remarkable achievement!” said Islamic Studies teacher Tamim Tarim, reflecting on the community’s spirit of giving in full force. Peace Terrace Academy students collected blankets and spearheaded the effort by advertising the drive, organizing donations, and assisting with the collection process. The donated blankets and the hygiene kits will be distributed to families facing financial difficulties, ensuring they have the essentials to stay warm during the cold winter months.

Teacher Tamim emphasized, “To our community, I would like to share this message: as Muslims, it is our duty to support and uplift humanity at large. May Allah (SWT) accept all our efforts and allow us to continue serving His creation.”

Salaam Food Pantry remains committed to serving the community as the holiday season progresses. Every act of kindness–like providing warm blankets on a cold day–can profoundly impact those in need.
