Career Prep & Financial Workshop 2026
On August 1st, Salaam Food Pantry partnered with Stearns Salaam Banking to host our Career Prep & Financial Workshop for young adults, packed with key insights on financial literacy, LinkedIn optimization, and resume building!
This workshop came from a simple idea: so many young adults in our community have the drive and potential to succeed, but don't always have access to the practical tools that make the difference when starting out. Our goal was to start closing that gap in one evening giving students and young professionals real, actionable skills they could walk away and use immediately. It was incredible to see everyone come together to invest in their futures.

Owais Sarfaraz, Business Development Officer at Stearns Salaam Banking, who broke down financial literacy essentials. He broke down budgeting, credit, and saving in a way that was practical and easy to start using right away.
Nan Ke, previously Lead Researcher for Career Networking at LinkedIn and now a Principal Researcher at Intuit Credit Karma, who brought research-backed insight into how to optimize a LinkedIn profile and truly stand out to employers.
Maqbul Khan, who shared invaluable, real-world guidance on resume building and what actually makes a resume get noticed with results.
Each of you generously gave your time, expertise, and heart, and everyone who attended walked away with so much. Thank you to our incredible team for making this workshop a success, especially our Event Lead, Maryam Naseer for organizing and Asiya Siddiqui for emceeing the event.
