Youth Ambassadors

  • Maryam Naseer

    Maryam Naseer is a Junior at Mission San Jose High School. She is part of the Salaam Food Pantry Youth Ambassadors along with Maryam K. and Sumha L. Maryam started volunteering at Salaam Food Pantry in 2016 and has been an active member ever since. Having been active in other leadership roles such as SPL of her Boy Scout Troop 2119 and clubs at her school she hopes to pass on her leadership skills, strategic thinking, and management skills to other youth volunteers.

  • Sumha Lakhani

    Sumha Lakhani is a freshman at Ohlone College majoring in Mechanical Engineering. She started volunteering at Salaam Food Pantry in 2018 and has been an active member ever since. She was previously in Girl Scouts, and currently volunteers as an adult leader in BSA Troop 2119, being the first Eagle Scout of the troop. Sumha’s goal is to create a youth-led division for Salaam Food Pantry that will lead and work on projects to help expand the food pantry’s outreach in the community.

  • Maryam Kauthar

    Maryam A. Kauther is a freshman at Ohlone College seeking to major in Biochemistry and minor is CS. She has a passion for the arts and has been scouting for the past 10 years, and currently is an Eagle Scout. She is also currently almost in her 3rd year of Alimah Course. Growing up in this community, she feels impassioned to be an active member of the community, having been part of the pantry since 2016. She hopes to be able to oversee youth- led projects seeking to expand the pantry's contribution to the community.

  • Asiya Siddique

    Asiya Siddiqui is a junior at John F. Kennedy High School. She began volunteering at the Salaam Food Pantry in 2021 and has been an active member ever since. Asiya holds leadership positions within and outside of school; she is the president of Kennedy’s Muslim Student Association and a taekwondo instructor and referee. She aspires to guide fellow youth in increasing the Salaam Food Pantry's impact, given that she cares deeply about the community's well-being. Her goal is to lead volunteers in collaborative projects that benefit families in need.
